The Heirloom Hotel

The old Kress building sat empty for years in downtown Laurel, its windows boarded up and the historic facade hidden behind layers of plywood. But after imagination and elbow grease, it’s now home to The Heirloom Building. A 12-foot neon sign welcomes visitors off the interstate, drawing them to a cozy 30-room boutique hotel, a cooking school, and a Scotsman flagship store—everything designed to honor Laurel’s rich history while embracing what’s to come.

I’ve been a part of this project from the very start, from beginning concepts to designing steel window frames, choosing paint colors, and creating signage and merch. Watching The Heirloom come to life has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.
